The Grapefruit Tree In Bloom
The grapefruit blossoms send a dream into the air,
that sweeps up my eyelashes and swirls around my hair.
Such citrus wafting song makes one dash into a dare,
And end up in those places from a magical Neverwhere.
A flower paddles down in wind gently before my eye,
and with its graceful wandering my heart loosens a sigh,
for with the curves the posy falls in her path I do espy,
flows perfume sweet around her dance in generous supply.
And when she lays upon the ground a tear is gently shed
for life soon passing from her scent sunk into soil be bled
the petals of her dress do thin and follow with no dread
For she will come again next year on springs free wheeling sled!
